Our student body comprises over 7,000 elementary, middle, and high school students across various locations including East Palo Alto, Oakland, San Francisco, San Lorenzo, San Jose, Redwood City, and Stockton. Within this diverse community, 79% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 23% are multilingual learners, and 10% have special needs. We are dedicated to building a team of educators and leaders that mirrors the diversity of our student population.
Position Summary
Teaching with Purpose: Our instructors are integral to realizing the academic and cultural aspirations of our schools. This involves crafting daily lesson plans, designing curriculum thoughtfully, and regularly analyzing data to facilitate the learning and growth of all students. Our educators also implement Social Emotional Learning lessons and Restorative Practices to foster a joyful, inclusive classroom community.
Support and Collaboration: Teachers collaborate closely with the school's Leadership Team, including their Instructional Coach, to ensure student progress. This entails participating in weekly meetings and receiving ongoing feedback to continually enhance instructional practices.
Commitment to Anti-Racism: We are steadfast in creating an anti-racist school environment. We engage in continuous development to reflect on our identities and experiences and how they shape us as individuals, educators, and leaders. As a community, we regularly assess our school systems, academics, culture, and data to gauge our progress towards becoming an anti-racist organization and implement necessary changes to meet the needs of our community.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Experience as an educator serving students with similar demographics to those in our student community.
Education: Holds a B.A/B.S degree from a regionally accredited institution and meets one of the following eligibility criteria:
Holds a valid teaching credential in English.
Eligible for a Provisional Internship Permit.
Eligible for a Short Term Staff Permit.
Required Knowledge/Skills

Possesses strong content area knowledge.
Excellent skills in building relationships with students, families, and communities.
Effective communication with students, families, and colleagues.
Proficient in Google Suite applications (Google Classroom, Hangout, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).
Ability to learn and utilize instructional technology to support in-class and distance learning when needed (i.e., Zoom, Nearpod).
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Craft daily and long-term lesson plans aligning vision and goals.
Regularly analyze data to identify student academic trends and inform instructional practices.
Maintain a positive, inclusive, rigorous, and engaging classroom environment integrating Restorative Practices and Social Emotional Learning.
Implement culturally responsive classroom management strategies to create a safe learning environment for all students.
Maintain regular communication with staff, students, families, and other stakeholders to foster strong partnerships.
Participate in weekly Professional Development and other Communities of Practice to foster continuous learning and growth as an educator.
Update student records regularly, including attendance, grades, behavior data, etc.
Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands
Physical: Ability to navigate school and classroom settings, utilize technology, and occasionally lift/carry equipment weighing 1-20 lbs. Physical agility to execute duties effectively, including kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead.
Mental: Ability to manage stress, analyze problems, generate alternatives, work with interruptions, concentrate for extended periods, read, calculate, perform routine math problems, memorize, and recall information.
Environmental: Work environment subject to interruptions and distractions. In emergency contexts (e.g., pandemics), work may be conducted virtually for extended periods, requiring the establishment of a productive remote work environment. Adherence to health and safety guidelines outlined by relevant authorities is expected.
Classification
This is a full-time, exempt position following a school year calendar cycle, based at our school sites.
